Policies

A not for profit organization established to provide girls from the Capital Region (ages 10 to 17), a forum through which they can  participate in a structured AAU Basketball program.

1) Tryouts, Teams by division, Selection process:
       1a) Tryouts are held annually each February.
       1b) Teams in age divisions, 10,11,12,13,14,15,16, and 17.
       1c) Divisions are based on the girls age:
                      AAU has changed its rules this year;
                      The new age cut off date is July1st
                      Not January 1st
       1d) Player selection by consensus of coaches.
       1e) ENH board reserves the right to make final decisions.

2) Our "Albany Shootout Tournament"
        2a) Held annually in the last week of April
        2b) We host up to 125 visiting AAU clubs from the tri state area.

3) COACHES FOR THE EMPIRE NIGHTHAWKS ARE:
       3a) Dedicated with many of them local High School coaches.
       3b) Coaches (not ENH), select the location and dates of Tournaments.
       3c) Coaches (not ENH) select practice dates, time and sites.   
               
4) PLAYER PARTICIPATION COSTS.
       4a) Once selected for a team, registration fee is due at the first practice.
       4b) Player participation fee is $300.00
       4c) Uniform fee is $50.00 however returning players can use last years.
       4d) REFUND POLICY: No refunds once paid.
       4e) Room, board & transportation costs at travel tournaments are players responsibility.
      

1) COMMITMENT: Prior to accepting a roster spot on the team you must:
         1a) Advise your coach of any conflicts: school teams, family events etc.        
         1b) Once selected attend all practices, (usually held twice a week).
         1c) Be available for tournaments held on Saturday & Sundays.
         
2) ACHIEVEMENT: Challenge yourself by giving 110% effort at all times:
          2a) Improve your individual skills,
          2b) Improve your ability to work in a team structure.
          2c) Competing at a higher level against teams outside the Capital District.

3) ENJOYMENT:  Enjoy the AAU experience by:
          3a) Meeting and making new friends from Captital District area schools
          3b) Have fun playing a sport that you love.

1) PRACTICE POLICY:
           1a) Practices are scheduled twice a week based on availability of gyms.
           1b) Practices are held to develop both individual and team skills.
           1c) Players attendance at any scheduled practice is expected.
           1d) Any known conflicts (family & or school sports) must be discussed with the Head Coach prior to your daughters accepting a position on the team.
           
2) PLAYING TIME POLICY:
          2a) The ENH board requires that coaches play all the girls in every game.
          2b) The ENH board recommends each player receive reasonable time.
          2b) The EHN board however does not guarantee equal playing time as we leave that up to the Head Coach's discretion. A players attendance at practices, hard work, game situations are some of the considerations used by the Head Coach.

3) TRAVEL TOURNAMENT COSTS POLICY:
         3a) The ENH sponsor teams in five tournaments.
         3b) Parents are responsible for a players room, board and travel costs.
                               
4) HEAD COACH POLICY
         4a) Head Coach administrates his/her team ( not the ENH).
         4b) If selected to a team, take the time to talk with the coach.
         4c) Ask about practice times and where the travel tournaments will be.
         4d) Ask the coach about his/her philosophy regarding game playing time.
         4e) Advise the coach of any conflicts before the season begins.

5) PARENT CONDUCT POLICY:
          5a) Parents must refrain from coaching on the sidelines.
          5b) Parents should be parents
          5c) Head Coach should coach
          5d) Players should play & take direction from the coach.

6) REFUND POLICY
          6a) No refunds of the player tryout or participation fee are available.
